PASTOR'S CORNER

Wrapped closely

Text: Genesis 13:14-15

Abram was a man of courage and great faith; he was also a selfless and generous man.

In Genesis 12:1-4 he relinquished everything and began his incredible walk of faith, giving up the visible for the invisible, the present for the future!

Lot his nephew on the other hand was only interested and concerned with what was now, immediate and advantageous. Genesis 13:10-11.

You would have thought that due to the fact that it was to Abram that God had given the promise and being the generous and kind hearted man he was in offering Lot the choice of the land, he would have said “Thank you sir” and ensured that the best of the land was reserved for Abram.

But his prevailing thought was “What can I get from this, what is best for me?” The problem for Lot however was, things are not always what they seem and all that glitters is not gold!

How you react to undeserved opportunities and open doors reveals what is in your heart.

If you are fortunate enough to come into a measure of wealth or power and your only thought is in relation to things, cars, houses etc. but never about the things of God or others less fortunate than you, do you not realise that you are not a candidate for the favour of God?

2Corinthians 1:20 the promises of God are true and amen, but unbeknown to us we have “lots” who are a part of our lives and journey, they may not seem to be problematic to us or our progress, but we are very wrong!

The root word for “Lot” means to be veiled, or covered, it means to be wrapped closely or to be enveloped!

Until we are rid of the “Lots” in our lives the Lord will not release the favour or the blessings promised!

God bless,

Pastor G Ferguson.
